Terms Of Service

The service

WriteBack, operated by founder Bryan Goodell through www.WriteBack.co, helps users create, format, print, and mail personal correspondence to incarcerated recipients. WriteBack is an independent service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any correctional agency, prison, jail, or postal service.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for providing and confirming the incarcerated recipient's full legal name, inmate/DC/booking number, and current institution. WriteBack may supply or standardize facility mailing routes and addresses from its facility database, but you must confirm the recipient details before payment. You must also review and approve the final letter. Address checks and facility information are designed to reduce mistakes but may become outdated or be applied differently by a facility.

Content rules

You may submit only content and photos you have the right to use. Do not submit threats, harassment, illegal instructions, contraband-related content, explicit sexual content, gang-related material, impersonation, or anything prohibited by the recipient facility. We may refuse or cancel an order that appears unlawful, unsafe, deceptive, or likely to violate facility rules.

Photo review and facility rules

WriteBack reviews submitted photos before printing and mailing them. Do not submit nudity, exposed genitalia, buttocks, female breasts, illegal activity, contraband, gang-related material, threats, or other content prohibited by the recipient facility. For Florida DOC routine mail, photographs must be no larger than 8 × 10 inches and Polaroid or prohibited commercial photographs are not permitted. WriteBack may decline to print or mail a photo that appears inappropriate or likely to violate facility rules. Payments for rejected or inappropriate photos are not refundable. Correctional facilities make the final acceptance decision, and WriteBack cannot guarantee that a facility will accept any particular image.

Payments and fulfillment

Prices and included items are shown before payment. WriteBack begins fulfillment after successful payment and final submission. WriteBack schedules three daily mail runs at approximately 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. An order completed too near a mail run may move to the next run. Processing, postal transit, facility inspection, and delivery times are not guaranteed.

Rejections and delivery

Facilities have different and changing rules. Mail may be opened, read, copied, delayed, returned, destroyed, or rejected. WriteBack does not guarantee postal delivery, facility acceptance, processing time, or delivery to a recipient when circumstances are outside WriteBack's control. Orders mailed using incorrect recipient information confirmed and supplied by the customer are not refundable. If WriteBack makes a production or addressing error, WriteBack will correct and resend the order at no additional charge after review. For customer-entered errors, WriteBack may offer a paid correction-and-resend option or other courtesy resolution at its discretion.

Your content

You retain ownership of your letter and photos. You give WriteBack a limited permission to process, format, print, transmit, and store that content only as needed to provide, secure, and support the service.

Accounts and rewards

Keep your account secure and provide accurate information. Rewards have no cash value, may be subject to limits, and may be corrected when credited in error or connected to a refunded, disputed, or fraudulent transaction.

Disclaimers and limits

The service is provided on an “as available” basis. To the fullest extent allowed by law, WriteBack is not responsible for facility decisions, postal delays, indirect losses, or events outside its reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot legally be limited.

Changes and questions

We may update these terms as the service changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. Questions may be submitted through the support channel associated with your WriteBack account or order.
